Poland is the original cultural melting pot, which is home to bustling cosmopolitan cities, such as Warsaw and Krakow medieval castles & old towns such as Torun, historical monuments and stunning scenery of. the Tatras. Poland offers visitors a range of activities, including sailing & canoeing on the Masurian Lakes, hiking, and skiing in the Carpathian Mountains
The country environment is as diverse as its history. there are forests covering over one quarter of the country with many beautiful National Parks, stunning snow capped Carpathian Mountains & valleys, thousands of postglacial lakes and a flat agricultural area. The months of May to September is considered to be the tourist season. But beware of the months of July & August as the Baltic Coastal resorts get extremely busy as does the Masurian Lake District.
The country has had its fair share of turbulence in its past and has survived invasion by a multitude of unwanted guests, the devastation of 2 World Wars and the repression of Stalin & Communism, to blossom into a multi cultural country which is visited by over 8 million tourists a year.

It has been the countries major city for over 390 years and was one of Europe's most beautiful cities until it was devastated by World War 2. There are still constant reminders at every turn with ruins and museums reflecting on just how badly this city was ravaged.
The winding Visula River divides the city with both banks reflecting a different character. On the left bank sits the bulk of the city and the popular "Old Town", making this side of the river the most popular with tourists. The Old Town district was completely rebuilt after the war and has become the popular part of the city. With its mixture of Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque style buildings. The Old Town Square is a vibrant blend of bars and restaurants that offer some excellent outside dining options. But no visit to the Old Town would be complete with a stop at the Historical Museum of Warsaw, which takes up one side of the entire square. Visitors should also take a stroll off the square along the cobbled side streets. These hide many delightful bars and smaller squares where you can sit for a quiet drink & a bite to eat and watch the world go past.
Running from the Royal Castle to Lazienki Palace is the Royal Way. Along this grand boulevard are many churches, palaces, galleries and musuems. On the other bank is the suburb of Praga, which has very few visitors. Finally Warsaw is the countries main hub for flight, trains and bus travel into the countries exterior making it easy to explore this fascinating country.

Arguably the prettiest city in Poland. It was the countries royal capital for half a millennium. Surprisingly enough it came out of WWII relatively undamaged, so unlike Warsaw it managed to retain it's architectural history. One of the major differences between Warsaw and Krakow is that its skyline is dominated by tall tower not tall tower blocks.
The Old Town district is a must for all visitors, but although it is more compact then its Warsaw counterpart it is surrounded by green parkland and still makes for an essential visit. Then you have the Main Market Square with its historical architecture, museums and churches. Krakow is not only a beautiful city but is it also a vibrant city with character in abundance.

A beautiful little town which dates back to the 13th century, when it was called home by the Teutonic Knights of the day. It has blossomed into a town of elegant Gothic buildings offering visitors a beautiful glimpse back into the town's past history.

Polands only true mountain range is a region of towering snow-covered peaks, which fall gracefully into placid glacial lakes. Visitors to this area should head towards the ZAWRAT PASS, which offers hikers spectacular views. We would suggest that the best time to visit this stunning region is Late Spring or Early Autumn when there are fewer tourists and the weather is still good. The small delightful town of ZAKOPANE is the heart of the region and makes an ideal base for visitors to skiing or hiking. It can be easily reached by train or bus from Warsaw.
The countries largest collection of lakes in which the SNIARDWY & MAMRY lakes are connected by various rivers & canals making them a haven for sailing enthusiasts. he area can be reached by public transport with trains running from Gdansk to Gizyoko. Please note that many places do close out of season.

There is a serious risk of robbery on rail and bus journeys. Passengers are most at risk while boarding and leaving
You should exercise extra caution when travelling on the buses or trams to and from Warsaw Airport as thieves target these routes.
Busy streets, tourist sites, areas near main hotels, money exchange facilities ATM machines and trams are also popular with thieves. There have been isolated incidents of muggings in towns popular with tourists. Where possible, avoid walking alone late at night particularly in dark or poorly lit streets.
Theft of and from vehicles is common. Cases of vehicles with foreign number plates being stopped by gangs posing as policemen are rising, particularly in rural and tourist areas such as the Polish lake district. If in doubt when flagged down, do not stop but continue to the nearest police station to report the matter. More details are available to motorists at Polish road borders.
